Contribution exercise:
Sunday's sermon "The Art of Possibility" was inspired in part by a book by that same name, and in part by the recent Pacific Western Regional Assembly. In the book, written by Rosamund Zander and Benjamin Zander, they describe many exercises a person can do to open oneself up to possibilities in life. One of those is to declare oneself a contribution. During the sermon, I gave the congregation homework to do in this area.
1. Declare yourself to be a contribution. Right now. Say, "I am a contribution." 2. This week, throw yourself into life as someone who makes a difference - just by being, and you may not understand how or why you made a difference. Each night this week, take a few minutes and write down anything you said or did that you consider a contribution - from listening to a friend, to opening the door for someone. Please send a few of these examples to Pastor Tera at <pastortera@throopuuchurch.org> She may use them in a future worship service. And there will be a follow-up homework assignment on May 19!
